What are good tarot card spreads?
If there are any online stuff I could print out that would be great?

Suggestion by Astro Lady
Sure, there are tons of info online.

Some of the most popular spreads are:

* 3-card spreads

* Celtic Cross Spreads

* Tree of Life Spreads

* Horseshoe Spreads

You can look for more here

Suggestion by Maralee Fox-Heins
If you are looking for something beyond the typical Celtic Cross, I suggest going to my site: http://www.maraleefoxheins.com
I have sixteen different spreads there from my highly anticipated book, “The Ultimate Tarot Spread Guide.” Just be sure to get my written permission first and give me proper credit if you plan on posting them anywhere or using them for anything beyond your own personal use of reading for yourself.

Joy to you,
Maralee Fox-Heins

Suggestion by Rev. Lynn D.
Just google your question and you will get lots of information. It really doesn’t matter what spread you decide to use as long as you feel comfortable with it. It isn’t a good idea to change spreads often so pick one and stay with it.

How many 3 card tarot spreads can you do in one sitting?
I know you really shouldn’t do it on yourself, or so I hear, but I was practicing because I was bored and it actually came out kinda true, so I did it again and yea you get my point. But how many can you do on yourself until it’s considered “cheating” or whatever. I don’t really know too much about tarot readings and stuff.
I hope this is the right section….
A 3 card tarot spread. It represents your past, present and future.

Suggestion by kenkitsune
it depends on what questions your asking about your self. there are loads of personal tarot spreads, including those to find love, ask questions, or decision making. i do alot of spreads atleast a few times a week and i don’t consider it cheating. things like tarot are made to guide you through your life. I even do tarot readings for friends when they have questions. None of us consider it cheating, and alot of people will laugh cause they don’t think its real.

when i usually stop is when i get tired. i mean physically tired.

Suggestion by Peter B
3 card spreads are a good way to practice. But they’re rather useless unless you have a lot of other information. As for doing readings on yourself, the cards will tell you if you’re pushing the limit.

What is the best book/ website to learn Tarot and Card spreads from?
Would really like some good recommendations. There are tonnes of books out there and want to know what people have found useful.

Suggestion by Scorpio
http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/ – to see Tarot Reviews… usually about the deck’s beauty and appeal, but it’s a good starting point to go look for the deck that would attract you…

http://www.alchemywebsite.com/tarot/tarot_collection.html This site has the biggest listing of Tarots in print (international)… The owner of the site reviews and analyzes Tarot Art. – you’ll find all sorts of Tarot decks here…

http://kirinouji.wordpress.com/tarot-studies/ – place to learn Tarot at your own pace.

The Tarot is something people innately understands, because its symbols are from a collective memory, a world memory.

Good luck on your quest.

Suggestion by Rev. Lynn D.
My personal opinion is that Tarot is best learned in person and hands on. You can find classes at a Metaphysical school or New Age book store. These type of classes also give you the benefit of exchanging ides and practicing on other people to get comfortable with it.

Is anyone good with Tarot Cards?
I found a deck of french tarot cards but I don’t know what they say or mean. I’m guessing the meaning is the same regardless of the language but I’m wondering if anyone knows where I can find a good resource to use to look it up. Thanks!

Suggestion by Jenny
The card meanings are the same regardless of the language. Usually cards have a number on them to indicate which card it is so that should be able to help you decipher. Also, for the suit cards you’ll always find the “number” in the picture on the card – if it’s the 3 of cups there will be 3 cups in the picture.

For more detail you can visit tarotbyuri.com and that site might be able to help with card meanings.

Drew the death card what does it mean?
Found some tarot cards in my grandparents house and I don’t know much about them. I figured I would just ask a question in my mind, cut the deck and whatever card I got would be my answer. the problem is that I don’t know what the cards mean, and the death card keeps popping up. It doesn’t actually mean death does it?

Suggestion by LabGrrl
The historical meaning of the death card is change, or if you prefer, transition.

Suggestion by MSB
The death card means transition. Change.

Suggestion by Will D
They’re cards man. Whatever is going on in life or whatever you’re thinking or feeling doesn’t change the order of what you just stacked.

How can I find out about my past lives?
I am wanting to learn about who i was in another life. I keep having this nagging feeling that something i am going through now and strange fears could be explained by this. Also, is there any relation to “spirits” as in being a medium and talking to the dead, and tarot cards? thanks 🙂

Suggestion by Lance
waste of time. If you think about it, past lives are absurd and impossible. Reports of “proof” of past lives fall to pieces when the “reports” are carefully examined. Further, on what possible biological basis could one retain memory?

This is all more religious woo-woo.

PS: the post below about the Buddha is laughable BS. Don’t believe a word of it.

Suggestion by Atheism Fails Again
An old Brahman priest asked Buddha: “What should we do [to be saved]?

The Buddha answered, “….look for another Holy One who will come and help the world and all of you in the future.”

Then the Brahman priest asked, “What will the characteristics of the Holy One be like?”

The Buddha answered him, “The Holy one who will keep the world in the future will be like this: In the palm of his hands and in the flat of his feet will be the design of a disk, in his side will be a stab wound; and his forehead will have many marks like scars. The Holy One will be the golden boat who will carry you over the cycle of rebirths all the way to the highest heaven [Nirvana]. Do not look for salvation in the old way [trying to merit salvation]; there is no salvation in it for sure. Quit the old way, and there will be a new spirit like the light of a lightening bug which will come down from the sky above to live in all of your hearts, and you will be victorious over all of your enemies. Nobody will be able to destroy you. If you die, you will not come back to be born in this world again. You will go to the highest heaven [Nirvana].

Tarot? How do you do it? What is a good Tarot card deck?
I just want to know how to get into it if your a beginner.
Maybe some useful information.
useful websites.
Maybe someone
could tell me the “NO’S”
for Tarot.
I just want to learn more about it and
I want to to start learning how to do it.

Suggestion by Miss 6
Everyone has their own way of tuning into the deck for them. My advice would be for you to go to the bookstore and study the decks that they have there. If you find a deck that “speaks” to you then get it. Most decks come with a companion book that goes over the meanings to the cards as well as the spreads you can use.
Believe or not a pretty good book is the Idiot’s Guide I know some people who have it and they really like it.

Suggestion by philebus
OK. There are broadly two main uses for tarot cards and the answer to your question depends on how you choose to use them.

The original use, unfamiliar to the English speaking world but popular throughout continental Europe, is for a family of card games. In fact, the picture cards of tarot were the first trump cards! These games are all what we call point-trick games, this means that like bridge, whist, or spades, players win cards in tricks – but unlike those games, different cards carry different point values and so it is not the number of tricks won that wins you the game but the number of card points contained within them. There are two types of tarot pack used for playing games, there are those that feature the old traditional Italian designs, and there are those that have French suits with various themed trump suits (such as Asterix comics, or local scenery, ect).

For rules on how to play the games and where to buy the cards for them:

http://www.tarocchino.com
http://www.pagat.com

The other – and in English speaking countries, the most familiar – use for tarot is for divination. This practice only dates to the end of the 19th century in France.

There are a huge number of methods offerend for this use, so I would suggest looking here:

http://www.aeclectic.net

You will find a lot of useful material along with a friendly forum.

Best Tarot Card deck for me?
I want one that will show every aspect of life, not just for like love or family or anything. Whats the best deck for me?
And by the way, i don’t know much about tarot card reading but i DO NOT want a beginners card deck. And i would prefer to buy it at Books A Million, or waldem (spelling?) books.
Thank you!

Suggestion by Raith the Glitter Ninja
There aren’t really such thing as a “beginners deck”. Beginner books, yes; beginner decks, no.

You could always go with the classic Rider-Waite deck.

Suggestion by hudsongray
You need to look at the art to see what you’re drawn to. There are several REALLY good sites for that. Plus reviews on the deck.

This site is great–you pick the style of deck first, then look through the selections. Cards are compared side by side.

http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/cards/ This site has reviews and decks. You can search by deck or by artist.

www.tarotgarden.com you put in the theme you would like in the search box on the top left, she’s got 6,000 decks for sale.

I recommend the Crowley deck…but honestly you should see them (and handle if possible) yourself and see what draws you.

Psychic energy is not constricted by time and space. (Time, at least, being only an illusion anyway.) Your physical appearance has no bearing on the contents of a reading, and a good reader should and will be able to read for you from a distance without ever having set eyes on you. can people make a living reading Tarot cards online or on the phone?
i’m a single mother, i’m not sure where this idea came form, but i have always been an intuitive person and i need to be able to support my son on what ever i do for a living. is it possible to do so by reading tarot online or over the phone with a reputable company

Probably

Suggestion by Wonder Weirdo
You may want to shy away from that. There was a whole slew of people doing that years ago, and the government cracked down on them. That kind of thing usually gets associated with fraud, and if you make a mistake somewhere along the line in your interpretation, then you can find yourself in some serious legal hot water.

Does anyone know a website for good (free) Tarot card spreads?
I’ve got the Celtic Cross memorized, and I can do a lot of spreads anyway, but I don’t think that I’m ready to create my own. I’d like to try out other spreads, are there any websites that you know of with a variety of Tarot Spreads?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I’m fond of three-card spreads… they give you a good framework and there are countless varieties…

Past-Present-Future
Body-Mind-Spirit
Myself-Another-Together
Choice-Path1-Path2
Situation-Problem-Solution
Self-Strength-Weakness
Situation-Do-Don’t
Problem-AngelOnMyShoulder-DevilOnMyShoulder

You could come up with any number of spreads that use three cards. I find them succinct and not too confusing… the Celtic Cross has to be one of the more difficult spreads I’ve ever tried!

Get yourself a tarot guidebook… there is often a number of good spreads in books. Also, I’ve found some good spreads online… just look up Tarot Spreads in Google and take a peak at the endless resources you can find!

What are some good Tarot Card Spreads for guidance in my love life?
I would greatly appreciate your suggestions for love spreads. Something that doesn’t require too many cards since I am a novice at this. Thanks so much! && You know I will be awarding the 10 points for best answer =)

Suggestion by in case of emergency mike angel.
most think of the Renaissance as a time of love, so how about that one,?

An intelligent and sensible young person. Dependable and practical person who yet hides mysterious corners of himself and hoards secret treasures. An admirer of the patterns of heavens, the makeup of nature, or the language of numbers.
The card at the top right represents how you see your partner. The Emperor: Worldly authority. Professional success. Social power. The life of action and decision, especially in politics and business. Patriarch, clan leader, and pater familias.
The card in the center left represents how you feel about your partner. Eight of Coins (Prudence): Frankness, honesty and innocence. Candid confrontation of circumstances.
The card in the center right represents what stands between you and your partner. The Hermit: Introspection. Retreat. Pilgrimage. Spiritual quest. The search in oneself and in the world for the “Honest Man” of Diogenes the philosopher. Meditation on the passage of time and the dissolution of matter.
The card in the lower left represents how your partner sees you. Page of Cups: A young person of sensitive and meditative nature, capable of deep loyalty and profound affection. A conscientious worker.
The card in the lower right represents what your partner feels about you. Strength: Strength and fortitude. Moral resolve. Triumph over base instincts. Mens sana in corpore sana (Sound mind in a sound body).
The card in the center represents the present status or challenge of the relationship. Six of Coins (Success): Generosity. Philanthropy. Charity. A wise and compassionate decision.

Suggestion by Astro Lady
You can try the following simple spreads:

1) 3 card spread – Past, Present, Future

2) 4 card spread – year forecast, each card represents one season or 1/4 year

3) 8 card spread (4 each in 2 columns done by 2 people) – the positioning from top-down represents mental beliefs, emotional beliefs, spiritual beliefs & physical expression.

For each spread, focus on the question as you shuffle the cards (6x as 6 is number ruled by Venus) and lay them fan spread out in front of you. Pick the number of cards according to the spread you choose and interpret accordingly as well.

A well presented question can be read with a single card.

Three cards can also be good.

Have a look at our forum.
